Walls of Sorrow/Walls of Hope
April 7, 2008
Two students of the Debajehmujig professional training program – Jessica Wilde and Barry Solomon Beaver, have been invited to participate in Walls of Sorrow/Walls of Hope: An international Journey of Transformation Through Community of Art.
This project is a highly creative public engagement, education and collaborative youth art project/installation that is being offered in Toronto May 2008 by the Phoenix Community Works Foundation (FCWF). The Project will be facilitated by Argentinean artist Claudia Bernardi (Artistic Director of the School of Art and Open Studio in Perquin, El Salvador) and the WSWH Project Coordinator, Phoenix Community Works Foundation) with a team of local artists lead by Julie Jarvis.
Jessica Wilde is originally from Kettle and Stony Point First Nation in South Western Ontario, while Barry Solomon Beaver is from Big Stony First Nation in Northern Alberta, and together will bring their reserve based First Nations perspective to the project.
Good luck Jess and Barry! We look forward to hearing about the project when you return.
