March Break Advanced Art Training Sessions for Manitoulin Island Students Grades 5-8

March 14 – 19, 2011

Break A Leg!

March Break Advanced Art Training Sessions for Manitoulin Island Students Grades 5-8

2011 Session Selections:

Option One: Clay Animation

What if you could create your own world? What if you could create any character that you can think of? What would it look like? There is a way to do both, and it’s through the world of ‘Clay Animation’. Participants will be guided through all the steps required to create their very own clay animation piece – concept development, storyboards, scale models, sculpting, shooting, and editing with special effect sounds and voice over. It’s time to show the world your world!

Option Two: Music Video Production

Does the idea of being in a music video excite you? If you have ever wondered what it would be like to be in a  music video, or to be involved in creating one, this is the place to be. We are looking for energetic, fun, animated participants who are full of energy, enthusiasm, and creativity. You will be encouraged to incorporate your own ideas and learn different aspects of the production process, from filming to editing. And when it is complete, invite your family and friends for a screening of your new music video at the Debajehmujig Creation Centre.

Option Three: Circus Arts

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a professional clown? How to juggle, stilt walk or learn the tricks to being a magician? Here's the perfect opportunity to do just that. It’s the “CIRCUS ARTS EXTRAVAGANZA!!!” program here at the Debajehmujig Creation Centre. Participants will have the opportunity to learn, create, play, develop skills, design their own clown character with costumes and make-up, and most of all have fun through Circus Arts and Magic training.

These courses have been designed to provide challenging, skill intensive experiences in a workshop setting, for Island students who have demonstrated above average creative potential. The sessions will wind up with a public showcase of the students’ work.

The workshop sessions will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 p.m., and the centre will be open from 8:30 am to 5:00 p.m. for early drop off and late pick-up.

The cost for the workshop is $150 for the week: includes all materials and supplies as well as a hearty lunch and nutritious snacks. No partial week participants please.

Payment can be made by cheque made payable to Debajehmujig Theatre Group, or by Interac, cash, Master Card or Visa while registering at the Creation Centre. If you cannot make it to the centre, please contact Audrey at 859-1820 to make other arrangements.

Participants need indoor shoes and comfortable clothing.

There will be a public showcase of the students work for friends and families on Saturday March 19, 2011 at the Debaj Creation Centre.  Admission will be free.
