NAAAP ProgramThe National Aboriginal Arts Animator Program (NAAAP) is a three-year training program offered in collaboration with the professional and outreach activities of De-ba-jeh-mu-jig Theatre Group. Students come from a cross-section of Canadian Indigenous cultures, from urban, rural, and isolated fly-in communities, with a wide range of previous skills, education, and interests. De-ba-jeh-mu-jig translates as "storytellers" in Cree and Ojibway. We define storytelling broadly. While the core of the program revolves around performing arts practice, related interests may include new media, film/video, music, dance, spectacle, writing, photography, visual arts/design, and others. It's all about finding our voice, helping others find their voice, and deciding how we want to be heard. |
